Client Focused Process

Understand the process

A successful project starts with a good fit of client, project and contractor. Believing that the best relationships begin with a candid conversation, it starts with the first phone call. The discussion focuses on the clients' goals and objectives for both the project and the contractor relationship, as well as our approach to the design, development and execution of the work. If Weidmann is a potential fit, an introduction package is mailed and first meeting is scheduled.

Interview and Initial Consultation

During the first in-home meeting, we dig deeper into the project specifics, clarify the objectives for the project in greater detail, explore options for achieving these objectives, and outline the steps we follow to design and construct the finished project.

Project Development

If Weidmann is the right company for the job, we sign a Project Development Agreement and bring in the design team that will assist in flushing out the details of the project, document existing conditions, and begin preparing alternative plans for the clients’ consideration.

Final Definition Phase and Construction Agreement

After exploring different options for achieving the clients objectives and discussing the costs associated with the alternatives, we finalize the direction for the project and flush out the details and design aesthetics. This includes preparing final construction drawings, providing 3D renderings of critical details of the project, identifying the specific products and materials to be incorporated into the home, drafting a comprehensive written scope of work, and preparing a final cost estimate. Once the construction details are finalized, we sign the Construction Agreement and schedule both a Pre-Construction Meeting and the start of construction.

Pre-Construction

Following execution of the Construction Agreement, a Project Manager is assigned to the job, provided all the details of the work, meets with the design team to obtain a good understanding of the design intent for the project, and prepares a construction schedule. Long lead time items are ordered and job start notices are sent to the trades that will be working on the home. The Project Manager and design team leader then meet with the client on site at a Pre-Construction Meeting to discuss construction logistics, with the goal of providing the most pleasant construction experience possible.

Construction

During construction, the Project Manager is on site daily to coordinate all the work associated with achieving the final design and aesthetics of the project. In addition to regular communication among all parties involved in the project, the Project Manager will meet weekly with the client, as well as send an e-mail update on job progress and two week look-ahead. Company owners support the Project Manager with regular visits to the project and are always available to Weidmann clients.

Close Out

At the completion of every project, one of the company owners meets with the client to walk through the finished project, review the financials, and get feedback on the clients’ experience from start to finish.
